{"title":"ESP","description":"The ESP carp brand launched at the beginning of 1999 and gained passionate followers from day one. Before the brand was released, a number of different names were considered, but in the end a comment from Terry Hearn, a long-standing consultant to the brand, gave birth to the final name. The initials literally mean Extra Sensory Perception - or \"sixth sense\". Terry says he had caught so many big and hard-to-catch carp that he must have some extra sensory perception. The name stuck, and ESP was born!\u003cbr\u003e\u003cbr\u003eInitially the brand specialised in terminal tackle, but has since branched out into high-quality, specification-built rods, clothing and luggage. Among the first range of terminal tackle were two hook models - T-6 and G-4. They took the carp world by storm and were the first carp hooks with ultra-fine needle points, much sharper than anything previously available. They were designed together with Terry Hearn, who acknowledges that an ultra-sharp hook is the most important component when targeting some of the most pressured and wary big carp in the country. The legendary Stiff Rigger hook pattern quickly followed, specifically designed for Terry's Stiff Rig, which evolved into the chod rig - presentations that remain just as deadly today. In 2001 the Big-T hook was launched; it was the first mass-market carp hook to feature a super-smooth PTFE coating and set a standard that the rest of the industry followed. The introduction of the Cryogen hook range in 2016 set a new standard in carp hooks.
