The purpose of the specific hook and the number indicated are the most secure basis for arranging flies and for choosing by the water.

For the Camo, the more direct choice is Knapek Midge Pupae/barbless/. And here the construction is eared and barbless, but the purpose is different from that of the straight nymphen model. A 10 number is available, so first decide if the size matches the intended imitation, and then select the materials for it.

Knapek Scuds - Czech Nymphs hooks are barbless, have an ear and are intended for nymphs. They are only available as 8 number and on 10 number per package. This separates them when sorting the finished models: do not mix hooks only by brand, but mark the purpose and number on the corresponding compartment.

When tying, start by checking that the hook chosen matches the type of imitation you will tie. The ear must remain accessible, and the finished workmanship must not obscure the tip. The lack of a barb does not negate the need for an exact proportion: an overly accumulated body can reduce the free space around the blade and make it difficult to use it practically.

By the water separate the nymph variants from the camel hook so as not to waste time in recognizing close-sized workings. After hanging in a hard obstacle, look at the tip and ear; do not reuse the damaged hook.
