The correct setting is seen in the working position. After setting load the line with the selected rig and observe the curve without immediately starting fishing. If the Ark remains almost stationary, the signals will be hard to read; If it's over-folded, you lose a useful move. Look for a clear middle position where small change can be accounted for in time.

Universal fastening facilitates matching, but does not override on-site inspection. It should fit without a flap, not change its position when the stick is moved and let the line run freely. Before descending through the opening, make a few smooth lifts over the ice; so you can see if the relationship between the hand, tip and mount is predictable.
