Krasi Lokala: 40-te Izvora Reservoir - a kind of “wild opening” /4.06.2025/
Yesterday I decided to keep my tradition and, as every year after 1 June, visit my "home venue" - 40-te Izvora. I arrived around 8 in the morning and, of course, the promising spots were taken by bivvies, but that is not the end of the world. The reservoir was 100% full, and even a little more.
Yesterday, I decided to keep my tradition, and like every year after 1, to visit “home fishing venue“ 40 Springs fishery.
I arrived around 8 in the morning and of course the prospect seats were occupied by campers, but that's not a pain to die in. fishing venue full of 100%, and a little more. Great, just for the fish to spawn properly. I stood in the sleeve of the mouth just below the dirt road that comes down from “View“. I put the rig another meter into the water because of the flooded grasses and put the probe into action to find a good fishing spot. Many flooded grasses and sloughs were nearby and I found a nice spot on 35 m with a clean tight bottom and 3-3.5 m depth.
For this distance of fishing and feeding I have prepared my favorite set again lately:
Daiwa Tournament-S Feeder 3.30mt/40gr + DAIWA 24 NZON PLUS LT 5000 S-CP and main line Daiwa Tournament Sinking Feeder Braid 0.14mm. The rig was again feeder gum, directly connected to the base braided line swivel with carabinc, stopper, rubber buffer bead, ready feeder gum rig (10 cm/6libres) from the finished Daiwa. Peak MTQ 0.75 oz. Big fun with super light tackle to catch breams and roach. I'm fascinated by this braided line, it sinks very well and will definitely prove to be very durable.
For underlaying I used 3.05 m (10ft- wiya) Super Spod the Daiwa with reel Black Widow 25A and braided line Daiwa J-Braid x4 Yellow 0.21 mm. For distances up to 40 m, this set is great, lightweight, agile and very manoeuvrable if you need a constant top-up. I fed 10 large baskets, the last one unloaded on the surface for faster attracting of fish.
Fishing started well, 2/3 paydays, then roach as it was going well until one point then started to go low. Apparently the fish didn't want the more aggressive approach and I took the feed size off Medium to Small, started squeezing the food more and made it wetter, stopped the live component.
The sprouts returned to normal and went into rhythm as they began to whimper, although there were fish on the spot
I was putting on the 2-3 bloodwormssa and things were falling asleep. Just as there are capricious platiks, the key to their heart is only red gold. It is reasonable to be capricious, yet just after the breeding season, until recently this section was dry, and now many grasses are flooded and have plenty of food of all kinds. I caught 100-tiny fish on the counter until about 13h and decided to skip the afternoon heat by preparing my rods for the BFRS Cup on the Channel somewhere in the shade. Best result gave me leader 80 cm Tournament Rig Line 0.10 mm and No 16 hook.
Tradition is tradition and it was respected, the last 2 pictures from the post even prove it. Good luck on the ponds, colleagues, and put on nice sunblocks, that's already got to be tight.
