I immediately noticed the Fuji New Concept guides and Fuji reel seat, together with the model's simple yet pleasant overall appearance. The action is fast to extra-fast, while also offering decent casting performance and distance when loaded around the middle of its casting weight range. Its sensitivity 'in hand' is sufficiently high, making it fully suitable for beginners, while the rod's power and build quality are forgiving of (some of) their mistakes. In this test and length, the rod weighs 145 grams, and as expected, there is room for improvement in the balance, but with a 4000-size reel weighing 255 g, the setup feels satisfactory in hand. I like the ergonomics, especially the handle length and lower section (ideal for powerful casting techniques when seeking long distances) and the ability to place my index finger on the blank. Small but important details for me have been carefully considered, completing the overall picture and shaping my positive impression of the model.
With such technical specifications, I find this rod to be an excellent offering in the highly sought-after 'budget' class—first and foremost for beginners, but also for those who want a reliable rod in their car 'just in case'.
